A security guard for the Drake apartments accidentally shot himself in his left hand Nov.

6 while sitting in his vehicle at the complex.

The Mentor-on-the-Lake man, 26, told officers he was awaiting the start of his shift and making sure his gun was not loaded, as he had used it earlier at a shooting range. He said he is not permitted to carry a gun while working.

The gunshot also shattered the windshield of his vehicle.

Suspicion: Mayfield Road

Officers attempted to stop a man with known warrants Nov.

5 in the Chick-fil-A parking lot, but he proceeded to back his vehicle into a cruiser. In an attempt to flee, he struck two other vehicles and a tree.

He was subsequently taken into custody, then to a hospital, where he fled from paramedics and did not receive medical treatment.

The Mentor man, 40, was charged with fleeing and eluding and reckless operation.

Suspected narcotics were found in his vehicle and will lead to additional charges pending lab results.

Stolen vehicle: Landerhaven Drive

A woman reported her vehicle stolen from the parking lot of a business Nov.

5. No suspects were identified, but the woman believed she had dropped a set of keys or someone had entered her home and stolen a set.

A man and woman fought in a vehicle in the Giant Eagle parking lot Nov.

Responding officers found that the Cleveland woman, 22, had an active felony warrant out of Lorain County for robbery. She was arrested and turned over to that agency.

No charges were filed for the incident, as both said they had only been arguing.

General assistance: Maplewood Road

A resident reported at 1 a.m.

Nov.

7 that her boyfriend had threatened to kill her and himself while they were driving from Madison earlier. She had contacted mobile crisis while in the vehicle.

While in Mayfield, village officers were able to locate them and have the man taken to the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

It was unknown what city the two were traveling through when the threat was made, but the woman said she would seek a civil protection order and have him evicted from her apartment.

Theft from auto: Summit Drive

A woman reported Nov.

8 that her debit card had been stolen from her vehicle overnight and a test charge was made on it at a Euclid gas station. She only wanted the matter documented, because she had heard other residents had their vehicles entered as well.

Harassment: Roselawn Road

A woman said Nov.

9 that she was receiving harassing text messages and phone calls from her boyfriend’s estranged wife.

It was learned that officers had advised the suspect in October to stop contacting the victim. As a result, charges for telecommunications harassment were filed against the 37-year-old Fairview Park woman.

Disturbance: Gilbert Drive

A woman reported Nov.

10 that a neighbor had threatened her and her daughter.

Officers spoke with the 57-year-old suspect, but she was uncooperative and claimed that the neighbor had threatened her.

Officers had been at her residence several times for related matters. The following day, a probate order was served and the woman was taken to St.

Vincent Hospital.

Theft from auto: Golden Gate Boulevard

A resident of the Pepperwood apartments reported Nov.

11 that a drone, valued at £1,100, had been stolen from his vehicle overnight.

Disturbance: Belwood Road

A woman reported Nov.

9 that her husband was spitting on her.

Officers spoke to both involved and learned that they were going through a divorce. They both admitted to spitting at each other. The man subsequently left the home for the night.

A Rite Aid employee said Nov.

5 that a customer was screaming at somebody on her phone and threatening to burn down a house.

Officers located the pregnant woman and requested a squad for her due to stomach pains.
