McDonald’s security guard caught on camera shouting vile racist abuse
A pair of McDonald’s security guards allegedly hurled racial abuse at a man at the end of a night out in Leeds city centre. The Indian-American man, 19, claims that he was called a “p***” by one of the security guards, during the fracas at 5.05am today (November 6) outside the McDonald’s in Briggate. Shocking footage appears to show one of the security guards shouting at the man: “You’re in the UK.
No problem mate. F*** off home! P****** in the doorway.
Getting your d*** out. R*****!” For the latest Leeds city centre coverage, click here
The young man from North Carolina, who wanted to remain anonymous, claims to have done no such thing and was left “confused and shocked” by the confrontation. McDonald’s is “fully investigating” the matter. The security guard seen shouting on camera, who works for an external company, will not be on duty at any of their restaurants during the proceedings.
The 19-year-old said: “They racially assaulted me. They used my race as an attack. That’s the best way of describing it.
They used my race and my nationality as an attack against me. It doesn’t make any sense.

“He called me a p*** which is pretty insulting. I went to the McDonald’s and the security guard comes out.
I told them I was American and they were kind of bantering against me and they kicked me out. I was hungry so I went back in and they kicked me out again. “He said ‘go back to your own country’.
It was aggressive. They’re like private security guards hired by McDonald’s. It doesn’t make any sense.
They don’t have any real authority over anybody, yet here they are yelling slurs. “The security guards said ‘go back to your own country’ and I don’t know if he’s implying like America or India or Pakistan, it seems very uneducated.”

The man was in Leeds as he was visiting a friend who studies in the city, he said this sort of thing has never happened to him at a McDonald’s in America and was “shocked” it would happen in the UK which he’s always considered a more “liberal” place. He said: “I’m just confused, shocked.
This is not a normal occurrence. I haven’t been in England for two days and to see a security guard that…it seems so unlike England. “When Americans think of England, they think it’s ahead of the times.
I was treated much better in London than I was in Leeds. It wasn’t what I’d expect in England, it wasn’t very liberal compared to what I’m used to.”

A McDonald’s spokesperson said: “Intolerance of any kind is completely unacceptable and has no place in our restaurants. We are currently in the process of fully investigating this incident.
“The individual in question works for an external security company and will not be on duty at any of our restaurants while the investigation is ongoing.”
